Wesley Grammar School is geared up to host a historic Methodist education celebration as part of activities marking its 70th anniversary, a milestone that highlights seven decades of academic excellence, discipline and holistic formation rooted in Methodist values.
The anniversary celebration, themed “Reminiscing 70 Years of Historic Methodist Education; The Role of Stakeholders in Embracing Technology for the Future,” will bring together old students, teachers, church leaders, policy makers, education authorities and the general public to reflect on the school’s contribution to national development and the shaping of generations of leaders.
This year's anniversary celebration like many others, is billed to have revered personalities like the President of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama as the Special Guest of Honour, former First Lady, H.E. Mrs. Rebecca Akuffo-Addo as a Special Guest, and Mrs. Justina Nelson, CEO for the Minerals Income Investment Fund as Chairperson for the event.

Honouring a Legacy of Methodist Education
Founded in 1956 under the auspices of the Methodist Church Ghana, Wesley Grammar School has grown from modest beginnings into one of the respected second-cycle institutions in the Greater Accra Region and Ghana in general.

•Saturday, March 7, 2026: Float by WES-G Students, WESGOSA convoy to the school starting from Mamprobi Post Office, school welcomes WESGOSANS, homecoming activities (food bazaar).
•Monday, March 9, 2026: Academic Fair (Students showcasing academic talent), naming of school blocks after past Heads.
•Tuesday, March 10, 2026: Ethnic group presentation (school gathering), food bazaar (live cooking, display of Ghanaian foods), attire (traditional costumes).
•Wednesday, 11th March: Clean-up exercises/charity drive/donation to a facility, inter-departmental debate competition, gospel rockshow, public lecture.
•Thursday, 12th March: Alumni to share school life stories and experience, panel discussion on the theme, blood donation, movie night.
•Friday, 13th March: Sports Activity; Soccer (Headmistress Aponkye Cup), tag of war, filling the bottle, sack race, draught, oware, ludu, line and spoon, bonfire night/candlelight procession.
•Saturday, March 14, 2026: Grand durbar, formal dinner and dance night.
•Sunday, March 15, 2026: Thanksgiving service.

These activities aim to deepen bonds among stakeholders while reinforcing the school’s commitment to service and community development.
Role of Old Students and Stakeholders
Old students’ associations are expected to play a key role in the celebrations, with several pledging support toward infrastructure development, scholarships and mentorship programmes for current students.
Traditional authorities, education officials and representatives of the Methodist Church are also expected to grace the occasion.
