The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCoP) James Annor, the Ahafo Regional Police Commander has urged the community members to maintain their trust and confidence in the police and support crime combat.
He refuted some allegations circulating in the communities that the police disclosed the identity of their informants, assuring that with the police, the confidentiality of informants was also guaranteed and protected.
Addressing a news conference at Goaso, the Ahafo Regional capital, DCoP Annor expreed the worry that: “In most of the cases it is the informants themselves who disclosed their identities to the public”.
He said the police administration treated all information with strict confidentiality, saying that “if anybody doesn’t trust the informant system, he or she can go directly or approach a police commander and provide the information”.DCoP
Annor urged informants who believed that the police leaked their identity to make an official report, saying that modern policing and crime combat required shared responsibility, assuring the informants of absolute safety and security.
He said whenever an informant provided the police with information, they followed up with it until investigations were ended, assuring the police dedication to build and strengthen police-civilian relationships in fighting crime.
