Police have shot dead a notorious armed robber in an exchange of bullets at Atebubu in the Bono East Region.
A reliable police source Sompa FM at Atebubu that deceased Osman Amadu popularly known as “Manu” was shot during a police intelligence operation.
Health workers at the Atebubu Government Hospital pronounced Amadu dead on arrival, and his body had since been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary for preservation.
The source indicated that the police identified Amadu as a member of an armed robbery gang terrorizing traders and passengers on the Atebubu-Ejura highway.
He was linked to an armed robbery incident which happened on March 14, 2026 in the highway which resulted in an exchange of firearms.
The source said on March 18, 2026 the police carried out an operation on the highway and targeted the deceased, who was believed to be hiding at Ejura, the capital of the Ejura/Sekyedumase Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
In that operation Amadu opened fire, however, the police were able to gun him down, saying that a single barrel gun, five live cartridges, GH200 cash and a techno pop 10 mobile phone were retrieved from the deceased.
