The Assembly member of Mfensi in the Atwima Nwahiagya North District of the Ashanti Region, Mr. Kofi Owusu, has expressed concern that most youth in Ghana are struggling due to lack of job opportunities and financial crisis.
He revealed that these challenges are driving many young people into situations they wouldn't normally consider, such as engaging in illicit activities or migrating to other countries in search of better opportunities.
Mr. Owusu emphasized that the situation is dire, and urgent attention is needed to address the plause of unemployment and financial hardship affecting the youth.
He urged stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector entities, and NGOs, to work together to create opportunities and support systems for young people to thrive.
Speaking to Sompa News on the Easter Sunday festivity, the Assemblyman appealed to the youth to stay positive and explore alternative livelihood options, such as vocational training, entrepreneurship, and agriculture.
He assured them of his support and commitment to their development, and encouraged them to take advantage of available resources and initiatives aimed at empowering young people.
Mr. Owusu also called on the government to prioritize job creation and economic empowerment programs, particularly in rural areas, to stem the tide of youth migration to urban centers in search of non-existent jobs.
