The aspiring national chairman candidate for the New Patriotic Party, Hon Akwasi Osei Adjei has bemoaned national and regional chairpersons of the party to underscore the need for neutrality among national executives’ aspirants vying for various portfolios on the national front.
In an interview with Omanhene Adu Boakye on Sompa Tv, on Monday, June 27, the former member of parliament for the Ejisu Juaben constituency said, "they should be neutral, they shouldn't side with a particular person, it brings disunity, for all you know, the one you are imposing on the people might not be the choice of the many, he cautioned.
He further recounted the number of times during his campaign he has met the absence of constituency and even regional chairmen.
He therefore called for equal opportunity for all aspirants.
"The power is with the grassroots, they need to be empowered not the regional or constituency chairman, as the case may be, the grassroots do not have the independence to decide on who they want yet they are the people who prepare the party and not the regional or national chairman.
We should give them the chance to determine who leads, and stop imposing on them, the grassroots must decide, he reiterated.
