Tension has erupted at Kyeremasu, a town along the Sunyani-Dormaa-Ahenkro road in the Dormaa Municipality of the Bono Region, as irate youth of the town barricaded all major roads in the area on Tuesday.
Their action, Sompa FM learnt was to register their displeasure about the death of a young man, suspected to be an illegal miner who was allegedly shot by the Dormaa Traditional Council taskforce set up to stem illegal mining activities in the area.

Scores of passengers traveling from Dormaa-Ahenkro to Sunyani as well as Kyeremasu to other communities were now stranded, as commercial vehicles were unable to travel through the Kyeremasu Township.

Speaking in an interview with the media, Mr Enoch Nsiah, an Assembly Member at the Kyeremasu Electoral Area confirmed the death, and called on the Dormaa Municipal Assembly to halt the operation of the taskforce immediately.
