The Fiapre Traditional Authority in the Sunyani West Municipality has imposed a fine on littering and indiscriminate dumping of waste in the Fiapre Township.
Obrempong Professor Kyem Amponsah II, the Chief of Fiapre announced the imposition of the fine and cautioned the community members to change their bad attitude towards waste disposal.
Speaking in an interview with Sompa FM on the sidelines of a cleanup exercise at Fiapre, the chief warned that offenders would not be spared, saying that the decision was to promote clean environment to avert the outbreak of communicable diseases in the area.
He advised the people to keep their surroundings clean at all times and commended the for participating in the cleanup exercise massively and to rid the Fiapre Township of filth.

Obrempong Amponsah II noted that Fiapre was fast growing because of the presence of the Catholic University of Ghana and the University of Energy and Natural Resources, and urged the people to keep the environment clean.
Madam Millicent Yeboah Amankwaa, the Member of Parliament for Sunyani West who participated in the cleanup exercise, also cautioned the people against indiscriminate disposal of both solid and liquid waste.
