The Golden Pillars Foundation, in collaboration with Focus Akross Borders, has successfully completed a poultry farming training programme for inmates and prison officers at the Sunyani Central Prisons, culminating in the certification of participants.

The initiative forms part of a partnership project aimed at equipping inmates with practical vocational skills to support rehabilitation and reintegration into society. As part of the training, participants were engaged in the rearing of 300 layer birds, which are currently producing eggs to supplement meals for prison inmates.
Organisers say the programme also involved technical support from poultry feed manufacturers, ensuring that trainees received hands-on experience in modern poultry management practices.

Speaking on the success of the project, the Foundation described the initiative as a transformative effort to create opportunities and restore dignity among inmates. According to them, the project demonstrates how skills development can positively impact lives, even within correctional facilities.
The Golden Pillars Foundation emphasized its commitment to expanding similar interventions, noting that the programme is already yielding tangible results through egg production and improved capacity among participants.

The initiative has been widely praised as a model for rehabilitation, highlighting the role of partnerships in promoting sustainable development and social change within Ghana’s prison system.
