The Member of Parliament for Bia East in the Western North Region on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress, Hon Richard Acheampong has debunked a said allegations levelled against the minority in parliament for their objection against the E-levy which has resulted Ghana going to the International Monetary Fund for assistance.
Reacting on the issues with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye on Sompa 98.9 Fm in Sunyani, the member of the select committee on finance in the 8th parliament said, the E-levy implementation even though the minority opposed yet was implemented, and doesn’t see the need for the justification on the blame apportion to the minority in parliament from the majority.
He further said the NDC government went to the I.M.F on the premise of what was described as Dumsor and that the John Mahama led administration fixed it before leaving office.
He added that this is the second time the NPP government is going to the I.M.F for a bailout.
“This is the second time the NPP is running to the I.MF for a bailout, the first one in 2017 was extended to 2019 and now this so technically it is the second time NPP is going to the I.M.F for help, it tells you how they have mismanage the economy, why do you blame the minority for someone’s mismanagement?
