Madam Charity Gardener, the Ahafo Regional Minister says the Regional Coordinating Council is collaborating with stakeholders to stem illegal mining activities, popularly known as galamsey going in and around the Tano River, urging residents to remain calm.
She said the Tano North Municipal Assembly had already informed her about the magnitude of the pollution in the Tano River, and assured that
urgent measures were being put in place to stem the practice and to preserve the aged-old river course.
Speaking to Ama Konadu on the Sunyani-based Sompa FM "Ade Akye Abia" morning show, Mad Gardener said that security operatives undertook operations and seized five excavators at an illegal mining site in the Tano North Municipality.
Madam Gardener said public sensitization on the consequences of galamsey remained key in tackling the menace, however noted that it
