He noted that the trend poses a significant challenge to the sustainability of the chieftaincy institution, emphasizing the need for traditional leaders to actively engage the younger generation and demonstrate the relevance of chieftaincy in contemporary society.
The Nyimfahene stated that his commitment to bridging the gap between the youth and traditional leadership is inspired by a sense of passion.
He explained that his impressed of changing the narrative by restoring confidence in chieftaincy among young people in Cape Coast, will be carried out by revitalising and engaging the youth more in tourism inclined fields, having had Cape Coast touted as Ghana's tourism hub.
He further underscored the importance of educating the youth on the history, values, and developmental contributions of traditional authorities, stressing that chieftaincy remains a crucial pillar in nation-building and community advancement.
The traditional leader called on fellow chiefs, opinion leaders, parents, and educational institutions to support efforts aimed at reconnecting the youth with their cultural heritage and fostering greater appreciation for the chieftaincy institution.
He expressed optimism that through deliberate engagement, mentorship, and inclusive leadership, young people would come to recognize the enduring relevance of chieftaincy and contribute meaningfully to its preservation for future generations.
