Residents of Old and New Suame in the Suame Municipal are calling on Ghana Water to fix cut-away meters and help resolve water scarcity bite.
In an interview with sompa news, residents claim cutting off water meter in the municipal has been rampant, as suspected pilfers on several accounts made away with these meters resulting in water shortage.
‘There has been water shortage for the past 4 days, there is no water now, we travel far distance to get water, and it’s a big challenge for us, this is what have been going on, a resident bemoaned.
A committee member for the Suame Municipal Assembly, Hon Grace Owusu attributed the scarcity of water to the rampant stolen of meters in the municipal and called on the GWCL to fix them to curtail the situation.
Residents said they travel long distance in fetch of water and uses water board to supply water through well.
Some residents also alleged that the water board was supplying adulterated water through the pipeline network until Thursday when the supply stopped totally.
They alleged that the poor-quality water was untreated, brownish and had bad taste.
