Mr George Manu, an Environmental and Sanitation Analyst has described 's pronouncement of the two days of general cleaning in parts of the country as unnecessary.
The president pronouncement followed the aftermath of the recent flooding which hit Accra and parts of the country to improve sanitation and avert the outbreak of communicable diseases in the worst affected regions.
Speaking to Ama Konadu on the Monday edition of the Sunyani-based Sompa FM "Ade Akyi Abia" show, Mr Manu said sanitation and hygiene ought to be a daily routine activity.
According to him the government ought to do more to ensure improved waste management and sanitation in the country.
Mr Manu called for strict enforcement of environmental and sanitation laws and also intensified public education on proper sanitation and waste management in the country.
