The ruling New Patriotic Party is set to elect new national executives today Saturday July 16,2022.
Delegates have since Friday converged at the Accra Sports Stadium in the polls which will see General Secretary of the Party John Boadu challenged as he seeks to retain the job. National chairman Freddie Blay is no longer running for the office making serial runner Stephen Ntim a favorite in the race which has Stephen Asamoah Boateng, and Professor Ameyaw Ekumfi among others.
Ahead of the polls, an influential member of the party and nephew of President Akufo-Addo, Gabby Otchere-Darko has projected victory for the incumbent General Secretary John Boadu and Stephen Ntim for Chairman.
“Listening to the delegates, those I tip to win the NPP national officers’ race Saturday, are Ntim for Chair; JB for GS; Nana B for Organiser; Kate for Women; Dr. China for Treasurer; Rita and Kissi for Vice Chairs; Salam for Youth. May the best out of all 45 candidates win” he told Omanhene
About 6,146 delegates are voting in today’s polls. The Ashanti region has 816 delegates, Greater Accra is 2nd with 595 delegates, the Eastern region 3rd with 578 delegates, and the Central region 4th with 408 delegates.
Meanwhile Somapa Tv news report, that Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) proxy voters numbering about 291 members have been barred from casting their vote in the 2022 NPP National Delegates Conference reasons yet known.
Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer, Raph Sarfo in an interview with Yaw Boama from the Accra Sports Stadium has shown his displeasure about the issue after journeying with over 58 Tescon delegates from the Ashanti Region.
