The progressive Road Contractors Association of Ghana has proposed an upward adjustment in Road tolls in helping to build Ghana’s road Maintenance and rehabilitation culture.
Mr. Larbi Hammond, the outgoing chairman of the Association in an interview with Omanhene on Tuesday, July 26th, 2022 urged the government to reintroduce the road toll system and then increase the monies paid by various users at the toll booth to increase revenue for accelerated development.
He said this could encourage a private business person to invest in the road sector.
Meanwhile, the finance minister, Ken Ofori Atta during the mid-year budget statement yesterday said the government was in touch to re-introduce the toll both across some selected roads across the country.
This was after the minister announced last October that all toll booths are closed for the introduction of the Electronic Levy.
But the minister during yesterday’s budget maintained that the toll booths will be introduced especially the completion of the Tema-Motor way.
