Deputy spokesperson and technical financial advisor to the office of Vice President, Gideon Boako has cleared the air that Mr. James Kirk Osei who is allegedly accused by the special prosecutor on the premise of using the vice president's office to write to the port to demand 15 containers of rice is a civil servant at the jubilee house and does not work at the office of the Vice President.
Giving an account of his background, Mr. Boako said, Mr. James Kirk Osei was employed by the NC government and has been at the jubilee house since 2014.
He further quashed speculations that Mr. James Kirk Osei is been prosecuted by the special prosecutor but is under investigation on an alleged letter he wrote to demand bags of rice for the office of the Vice President.
“The special prosecutor is investigating him and other people on the letter he wrote to demand rice to the office of the Vice President whether legitimate or not but he refused to declare his assets which is contrary to the law,” he said.
According to Mr. Boako, a worker at the National Insurance Commission contacted Mr. James Osei to use the letterhead of the vice president to demand containers of rice from the port so they can sell for their profit however luck eluded them when customs officers detected that the letter was not having the signatory of the secretary to the Vice President.
He further added that he can't be punished by the office of the vice president since he's a civil servant; it's constitutionally right for the special prosecutor to take up the investigation and sanction appropriate actions.
“I think the Special Prosecutor in his own wisdom is satisfied with or dealt with that particular matter, there is no issue".
