The National Democratic Congress former Member of Parliament for Twifo Atti-Morkwa Constituency in the Central Region, Dr. Samuel Ato Amoah has descended on the Nana Addo-Bawumia government on what he describes as government's insatiable desire to tax Ghanaians on all fronts.
Blaming the country's economical woes to the government's mismanagement and deep-seated corruption, Dr. Ato Amoah predicted that the NPP administration may soon tax Ghanaians for the very air they breath, considering the passage of vehicle emission levy bill which will have all petrol and diesel car owners be charged 100 cedis every year.
Describing the number of taxes introduced by the NPP-led government as nuisance, thereby, translating the passage of vehicle emission levy bill as "Wusie Tax", Dr. Amoah argued that the tax would worsen the already dire economic situation in the country.
He said the NPP has taken Ghana’s economy to a backward turn and is in reverse gear considering where the NDC left it in 2016.
He, therefore, assured Ghanaians that Mahama and the New NDC government will pursue prudent policies to ensure a stabilized economy when voted for in the December 2024 polls.
He made this statement when he handed over a refurbished 3-bedroom room house furnished with a television set, bed, and mattresses amounting to Gh¢10,000.00 to a 70-year-old lady at Twifo Praso as part of his birthday celebration.
Dr. Amoah on why he decided to refurbish the house for the old lady on his birthday instead of making merry with friends and loved ones as usual, explained that having enjoyed his previous birthday celebrations with loved ones, this time around thought it wise to imbibe all in one package and hand it over to this old lady in question upon witnessing her plight.
The beneficiary, 70-year-old Akua Obiyaa popularly known as 'English Woman' expressed her profound gratitude to Dr. Ato Amoah for his benevolent gesture towards her.
