Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has emphasized to codify the line of succession to every throne in Ghana when elected president of the country.
He pointed to the fact that most chieftaincy disputes in Ghana, in several instances boil down to the issue that the line of succession to these thrones weren't written, thus becomes a problem should any of these thrones require a successor.
According to the Vice President, judicial committees in the country ought be resourced in other to complete that which they started, in other to push to codify the succession lines across the nation, for everyone to know the true inheritance to every throne in Ghana.
This he recounted to do when given the mandate to serve as president of the country.
Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia remarked this during his presidential tour to the Central Regional House of Chiefs on Monday.
He bemoaned that because most stools in Ghana lacks a written line of succession, often gives room for people who literally comes nowhere near the throne to fight over enstoolment with those who rightful deserves to be enstooled chiefs, probably due to such person's financial fortitude.
The veep stressed that should this line of succession be carried out on every throne in the country, will cause these unruly individuals to automatically vanish into thin air and make way for peace to reign in the country so far as chieftaincy disputes are concern.
Odeefuo Amoakwa Buadu VIII, President for the Central Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Breman Traditional Area on his address, appreciated the government for its developmental projects executed in the region like the Elmina Fishing Harbour, dualization of the Kasoa-Winneba Highway, among others.
He again thanked the government for putting in pragmatic measures in place to have the Central Region get an airport, as promised the region some months back.
