The New Patriotic Party’s Council of Elders has appointed a five-member ad hoc committee to keep the upcoming flagbearer race orderly as the party prepares for its 31 January 2026 presidential primaries.
The move, announced in a statement signed by Council Chairman Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, follows consultations with all the presidential hopefuls held on 11 September 2025.
The committee is mandated to:
-
Monitor the remarks, behaviour and activities of aspirants and their followers.
-
Receive and examine petitions about abusive language, hate speech or personal attacks.
-
Recommend corrective or disciplinary measures to protect the NPP’s unity and reputation.
The council appealed to aspirants, campaign teams and supporters to cooperate fully.
“The Party remains committed to conducting a peaceful, respectful, and dignified primary process that strengthens our unity and readiness for the national elections,” the statement said.
