A former parliamentary aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Sunyani West constituency, Amma Frimpomaa, Esq., has expressed doubts about the performance of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) 15 months after assuming office.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Kwasi Kyei Baffour (KKB) on Saturday, March 7, 2026, edition ‘Me Man Nti’ at Sompa Fm-Sunyani, the legal practitioner said many of the campaign promises made by the NDC ahead of the 2024 general elections are yet to be fulfilled.
According to her, the current administration has not delivered on several key commitments it made to Ghanaians prior to taking power.
“We are yet to see those promises made by the NDC government before taking power being fulfilled,” Frimpomaa stated during the interview.
She specifically referenced comments previously made by Sammy Gyamfi, a leading member of the NDC, regarding the passage of legislation on LGBTQ+ rights.
Amma Frimpomaa, Esq., noted that Gyamfi had indicated he would distance himself from the government if it failed to sign the LGBTQ bill into law within three months of assuming power.
“But we are in 15 months now and that has not happened,” she said.
A former parliamentary aspirant also questioned the government’s claims about improvements in the economy, particularly regarding inflation and the performance of the Ghanaian currency.
While acknowledging reports that the Ghanaian cedi has strengthened against the U.S. dollar, Amma Frimpomaa, ESQ., argued that the development has not translated into relief for ordinary citizens.
“They say inflation has come down and the cedi is performing, but it is not reflecting in our pockets,” she said.
“Truly the cedi has beaten the dollar and it’s down now, but if it does not affect the prices of goods and services that ordinary Ghanaians buy and sell, then nothing significant has been done.”
The legal practitioner added that economic indicators should ultimately translate into tangible improvements in the cost of living for the average Ghanaian.
The NDC government has repeatedly highlighted stabilizing inflation and strengthening the local currency as signs of economic recovery since taking office.
However, critics from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) argue that these gains have yet to be felt by many households across the country.
