Parliament has called on Ghanaians, particularly the Muslim community, to celebrate Eid al-Adha in an atmosphere of peace, unity, compassion, and religious tolerance while extending support to vulnerable people across the country.
Sighted in an official facebook page of the Parliament of Ghana, the appeal was contained in a statement delivered on behalf of the Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, and read on the floor of Parliament by Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah.
Addressing the House, Hon. Zuwera highlighted the spiritual significance of Eid al-Adha, describing the festival as a reflection of obedience, faith, sacrifice, charity, and perseverance, values exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
She urged the Muslim Ummah and the general public to observe the celebration in peace and mutual respect, stressing that religious tolerance remains vital to Ghana’s unity and national cohesion.
Hon. Zuwera also commended the Muslim community for its continuous contribution to national development and offered prayers for the country’s progress and stability.
“May Allah accept our sacrifices and bless our beloved country with peace and prosperity,” the statement said.
