The Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Hon. Agnes Naa Momo Larteh, has appeal to the Rt Hon Speaker of Parliament Hon Alban Kingsford Bagbin through the Gender Committee to recognize women into sanitation.
She therefore suggests to the committee on Gender, to acknowledge and elevate women into leadership roles within the sanitation sector.
During her address today in Parliament, she emphasized the critical contributions that women make in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene, particularly in their communities.
Reflecting on the government's recent two-day cleanup exercises, Hon Momo Larteh mentioned that women are often at the forefront of these initiatives, tirelessly working to ensure their surroundings are safe and sanitary.
She stated the essential role women play, not only in their households but also in broader community efforts, underscoring that their involvement is vital for effective sanitation management.
In her message of solidarity, Hon Naa Momo extended her support to those adversely affected by sanitation challenges, acknowledging the struggles many face in accessing clean environments.
She called upon local authorities to collaborate closely with women leaders and community members, advocating for the development of sustainable solutions that address sanitation issues comprehensively.
By fostering partnerships and empowering women in leadership positions, the Minister believes that lasting improvements in sanitation can be achieved, ultimately benefiting the health and well-being of all citizens.
