The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has introduced the Feed Ghana Brigade Initiative as part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s agricultural workforce and accelerate the government’s drive towards food security and economic transformation.
The initiative was unveiled during the passing-out ceremony of 506 Feed Ghana Brigadiers and District Feed Ghana Coordinators at the Ghana Police Training School, Tesano, where the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, charged the new officers to help transform agricultural policies into measurable results at the community level.
Mr. Opoku said the programme represents a new approach to agricultural development by engaging trained young professionals to support production, improve coordination and promote accountability within the sector.
He explained that the success of the initiative would be assessed by its impact on farmers, including increased production, stronger value chains, improved access to technical support and greater participation of young people in agriculture.
The Minister said the Feed Ghana Brigade Initiative would also create opportunities for agricultural graduates to apply their expertise while contributing to national development.
He encouraged the newly trained Brigadiers and Coordinators to work with commitment and professionalism, noting that their responsibilities would be critical to achieving Ghana’s goal of producing more of the food it consumes.
The launch of the initiative forms part of government’s broader plan to reposition agriculture as a key driver of job creation, industrial growth and national prosperity.
