Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has disclosed that no allocation has been made for fans or the media in the Black Stars’ budget for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The national team is currently in N’Djamena, Chad, where they will face Les Sao at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on Thursday, September 4. Ghana will then return home to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8.
Addressing the press on Tuesday, September 2, Adams explained that his ministry had reviewed the Ghana Football Association’s proposed estimates and removed certain items.
He revealed that the approved $1.3 million budget covers only essential team needs, leaving out provisions for supporters and the media.
"We don't have budget for supporters,” he told Sporty FM.
“Anyone who comes thinking there is a budget [for fans], not a pesewa is in the budget for supporters. No provision for supporters and no provision for the media.”
Meanwhile, head coach Otto Addo will lead his side in their final training session on Wednesday ahead of Thursday’s clash.
The Black Stars, four-time World Cup participants, currently top Group I with 15 points, three clear of Comoros, who face Mali on Matchday 7.
