Former Manchester United defender Jonny Evans has described Louis Van Gaal as the manager who stood out the most in his career at Man United aside Sir Alex Ferguson.
Evans spent a total of 11 seasons at Old Trafford and played under the likes of David Moyes and Erik Ten Hag aside the aforementioned managers.
However, in an interview with Sky Sports, the former Northern Ireland player picked Dutch coach Van Gaal as the manager at Man United who stood out the most for him aside Sir Alex.
“If you go by names, you’d probably say Van Gaal. He was the total opposite to Sir Alex. I learned so much from what he had to say and it opened my eyes to a different way of playing football.”
“I only had one year with him; I feel that the stuff I had with him, I was able to take for the rest of my career” Evans said.
Van Gaal spent two seasons as Man United manager and won the FA Cup in 2016 but was sacked two days after and replaced with Jose Mourinho.
