Concerned residents urge BoG to intensify public education on proper handling of cedi notes

Mr Emmanuel Mbawuni, concerned resident at the Sunyani Night Market is calling on the Bank of Ghana to intensify public education on the properly handling of the Ghana cedi notes to safeguard the dignity of the local currency.

In an interview with Sompa FM, he said local currency represented a national heritage, saying the public education would enlighten the masses who turned to deface, crumble and manhandled the local currency.

Mr Mbawuni noted that it was a civic right and responsibility of every Ghanaian to preserve the dignity of the cedi note as enshrined in the section 242 of the Bank of Ghana Act, 2002.

Mr Christopher Agyei Boateng, another concerned resident expressed concern about the growing trend of money bouquets which breached the Bank of Ghana Act.
